Artist's Statement
My welded steel sculptures explore how buildings, bridges, vehicles and other physical infrastructure influence us. We live in the negative space created by those structures, and they affect how we express our ideas and beliefs.
My career as a lawyer and consultant dealt with how rules and processes shape our lives, how we think, and what we do. The physical environment also impacts our lives, and that is what my sculpture delves into. The organic forms of man and nature are represented by architectural metaphors. The sculptures are totems which use the vocabulary of our urban surroundings to express what we think and feel just as ancient totems used forests, beasts, and mountains to reflect ideas and emotions.
